About the programme

Linguistics is a unique and the only programme of this kind in Lithuania, standing out from others by the connections of linguistic knowledge with the modern needs of knowledge, creativity, innovation economy, and competences of medias and communication.

This degree programme is designed to train the next generation of linguistic specialists with highest qualification, able to understand the role of language with changes affected by digital technologies and global world, in a multilingual and multicultural environment.

Students not only will acquire all basic competencies for competitive work in all fields requiring comprehensive and consistent knowledge of the Lithuanian language and also the knowledge of language industries, linguistic technologies, modern language philosophy, linguistic information dissemination and language communication mandatory in the modern world. Moreover, students will master the latest methods of linguistic analysis, design and management, and be able to use the creative linguistic powers to generate competitive ideas of business, culture, and social initiatives.

Naujoji Lingvistikos (ekonominės lingvistikos) studijų programa kviečia studijuoti lietuvių kalbą KITAIP – kaip žmogaus ir visuomenės kūrybiškumo šaltinį. Tam, žinoma, reikia puikiai išmanyti lietuvių kalbos sistemą ir struktūrą, istoriją, kalbos santykius su visuomene (sociolingvistiką) ir geografiją (geolingvistiką). Naujosios kartos lingvistas (-ė), baigęs (-usi) šią studijų programą, bus gerai susipažinęs (-usi) su bendrosios kalbotyros dalykais, moderniausiomis kalbos teorijomis ir metodais, kalbos technologijomis. Studijų programoje lietuvių kalbos ir bendrosios kalbotyros žinios yra integruotos su ekonomikos, komunikacijos, rinkodaros, globalizacijos procesų žiniomis. Šių žinių kol kas nesuteikia tradicinės filologijos programos. Naujos kartos lingvistai (-ės) gaus ir tradicinių (stilistika, diskurso analizė, kūrybinis rašymas ir kt.), ir naujų, XXI amžiuje būtinų, gebėjimų (kalbos projektai, dialoginis seminaras, kūrybinės ir kultūrinės industrijos kalbiniu požiūriu, ekonominiai naratyvai ir kt.). Artimiausioje ateityje, plečiantis mūsų gyvenimo skaitmeninėms erdvėms, kalbos vaidmuo didės ir specialistų, išmanančių, kaip kalba veikia virtualiame pasaulyje (nuo socialinių tinklų iki sudėtingų daugiakalbių infrastruktūrų), reikės vis daugiau ir daugiau.
