*Before the courses start we will be accredited by Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) and awarded with Certificate Part-147 to conduct basic training for category B1.1 – Technician Mechanics

Kazimieras Simonavičius University offers Part 66 Sub. Category B1.1 – mechanical (aircraft structure, jet engine, mechanical and electrical systems) for turbine powered aeroplanes. It is a training courses required for the Aircraft Maintenance Licence delivery, validated after 2 years of experience. This license, recognized by all the European countries, leads to obtain the authorization to deliver an aircraft certificate of release to service. The participants will acquire the basic technical knowledge and principles necessary to fulfill the requirements for the application of an aircraft maintenance license.


Duration: 21 months, 2 400 hours (1 440 hours of theory, 960 hours of practical exercises and in real working conditions on aircraft).

The programme seeks to train aircraft maintenance specialists with appropriate aviation engineering background. Students attend theoretical courses and apply them in workshop and on aircrafts to simulate various tests and maintenance operations. Practical training will be held in Kaunas, Vilnius or Alytus from Sep 2019 till 2020 Feb. All courses are conducted in English.

Afterwards, there is a possibility to continue part time studies at our university in Vilnius for 2 years and graduate with Wrexham Glyndwr University (UK) Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft maintenance.

To obtain the license you will need to study a number of modules. For each module you will need to take an exam. To pass each module exam you will need to achieve a 75% pass rate.

As a part of a global industry the aircraft maintenance technician faces rapidly expanding opportunities and challenges (including travelling into space). For the talented aircraft maintenance technician there are many commercial and international opportunities. The diversity of skills associated with aircraft maintenance is therefore likely to expand.

After successfully completing Training course, students are eligible to seek higher career opportunities in aviation industry worldwide and work in different sectors such as aircraft base maintenance, airline, aircraft leasing, aircraft component and engine overhaul, and aircraft manufacturing commercial and public service sectors, performing a range of processes on aeronautical products. He or she will undertake a number of processes including inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, removal, installation, rigging, testing and repairing.

Dependent on work location Aircraft Engineer with a B1 Certificate earns 3 000 – 4 000 EUR per month.

Aircraft B1 Licensed Engineer earns at an average of 5 000 EUR monthly.

Study further and get UK degree!

Students, which successfully finish Part 66 Basic training, could continue studies in Lithuania, in BEng (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance program (part time, 2 years), and graduate with diploma of Wrexham Glyndŵr University (UK) (subject to validation).


Accommodation is payable by the student, however help to find suitable accommodation will be provided. A range of studio apartments and flats are available in the Vilnius district at reasonable cost approx. 200 eur.

Subsistence per month – 180 eur. Vilnius city transport expenses – 29 eur/month.

Travel expenses to the location, where the practical training (6 months) will be held, are payed by the students (approx. 100 eur/month).
